Coaching Evening 29 May 26
Paul, a qualfied Coach visited us to give guidance to new and some not so new members on this sunny evening. Around 20 members came along, some as helpers for Paul, others to learn or refresh their skills!
He started with the basics including how to place the mat, wood bias, holding the wood, delivery stance and techique etc, before moving on to training methods to improve accuracy at a various distances .. this involved carefully placed CDs on each rink for members to aim at.. with yellow tennis balls as jacks.. some of us were definitely not as good as we should be, even at short distances!
We had a mid session break with biscuits & chat before returning to more target practice and learning about the shoulder.
Paul shared his time well between the active rinks and two and a half hours passed quickly.
Overall a very useful and enjoyable evening.. many thanks to Paul and his experienced helpers. Some of the training approaches shown could easily be used inhouse by members looking to improve their delivery accuracy in a noticeable way and perhaps CD trainng sessions should be organised by the Club for newer/improver members.
