TVL Flowserve 18 June 26 H
The result was a lot closer than the final score suggested.
In the singles Lowdham took an early lead Flowserve kept fighting back with the score remaining close and some excellent bowling by both players kept the match close. Eventually Flowserve took the lead for the first time by 1 shot on the 19th out of 25 ends. However 2 shots on the next end made sure Flowserve’s lead was short lived and Lowdham pushed home their advantage scoring 3 shots on both the last two ends to win the match by 8 shots.
The pairs saw Flowserve pull out an early lead being 7-1 up after 5 ends. Was I worried that Lowdham were going to lose that rink? Just a bit! But some excellent bowling saw Lowdham take the lead 3 ends later and although the scores remained close for a a few ends Lowdham was able to pull away for a victory by 14 shots.
The trips was a tale of 3 ends. Many of the ends were close there were some good heads and tight bowling except on two ends early on in the match when Lowdham dropped 4 shots on both of them. Given this lead Flowserve were in no mood to give it up but just as it looked that Lowdham were fighting back, they dropped 6 shots. These 3 ends made the difference between the two teams. Lowdham continued to fight hard but eventually lost by 7 shots.
The Fours was perhaps the hardest fought and closest match of the night and also the last to finish. 10 of the 16 ends were won by a single shot, the highest percentage of any of the 4 rinks. The lead changed hands several times and after 14 ends the scores were level. A 3 on the 15th end gave Lowdham the lead but Flowserve were lying 3 shots on the final end when the skip bowled his final wood. Cheers went up from Lowdham team as he drew to within an inch or two of the jack to gain the shot and give Lowdham their 3rd win of the night.
The overall score was Lowdham 83, Flowserve 64, with Lowdham winning 6 points to Flowserve 1.
Next week we meet them away in the cup and are hoping for a repeat performance.
